Bozeman, MT
Montana State University houses a Cybersecurity Hub for master’s students under the Gianforte School of Computing.
This degree aligns with the requirements for the National Security Agency (NSA) Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) Cyber Defense Education (CDE).
MSU also houses a Software Engineering and Cybersecurity Laboratory that is accredited by the CAE.

Missoula, MT
The University of Montana and Missoula College offers hands-on, career-driven programs in IT and cybersecurity that prepares students for entering the workforce.
There are opportunities for students, early career individuals, or career advancement. These programs offer flexible learning formats, experienced faculty, and industry-aligned curriculum.

Missoula, MT
The Montana CyberRange boots Montana’s defensive posture through practice.
This entity trains educators and students in immersive lab environments to respond to real-world cyber problems in the form of statewide competitions. The ‘Range’ also conducts applied action research in Incident Response Labs that bridges theory and practice.
Lastly, in partnership with the Public Infrastructure Security Cyber Education System (PISCES), the Security Operations Center (SOC) trains future Security Analysts while protecting Montana’s rural communities through real-time network traffic monitoring.

CyberMontana is a statewide Legislature-funded initiative that offers cybersecurity education for all residents.
Their cybersecurity training includes security awareness training and workforce development for businesses and residents of Montana.
Educational opportunities include programs for adults, high school students, and middle school students. CyberMontana’s goal is to increase the cybersecurity defensive posture for all of Montana.

STEM Camps for Middle Schoolers
CyberMontana believes no age is too young to begin learning more about cybersecurity. Summer STEM camps offer middle schoolers the opportunity to learn about cryptography, password cracking, and geotagging, among many other topics.
By introducing young talent to the field, the future of the field becomes more secure. No experience is required to take part in these camps but offers will differ by location.
